June is the time when most schools are closed in India for about a month for summer vacations. Hence, it is the right time for families to travel to distant places in India.
During summer vacations I used to travel to places like Rishikesh and Kasauli with my family and those are some of my beautiful childhood memories.
While enjoying the train journey to Rishikesh, summer did not feel hot back then. Sudden rainfall would often provide a respite from the heat, giving children a chance to play and have fun. I can’t help but smile as I think of those moments when I used to sail my paper boat in the rain water.
Also, singing songs with other children asking rain not to stop so that we could jump in the puddles and to sail our boats.
