Starting a blog is not as difficult as getting traffic to it. I started my blog about 3 years ago which initially was created with the purpose of making a record of all my and my family’s travels.
As I kept working on it and learning, I wanted to have more traffic on my blog. Over this period of time, with consistent efforts my blog has now reached at a place where I have-
10000 plus followers on Facebook page
17000 plus followers on Pinterest
4400 plus followers on Instagram
15000 average monthly views on my blog
Without a doubt I can say that Pinterest has contributed majorly into increasing my blog traffic. In fact that is where I receive most of my blog traffic from.
Pinterest works like Google and is a search engine but has more visual appeal. I tend to look towards Pinterest than Google when I want to search for things like travelling, shopping, cooking, home decor, DIY etc.
It not only looks interesting but also lets you save those pins for later in the boards of your choice. You can always get back to those pins whenever you want or have time. That makes it quite convenient and sorted.
With more than 320 million monthly active users on Pinterest, it is definitely not a place to be missed. You are losing a lot of your prospective visitors (that may get converted into leads for your business) if you are not using this platform.
Pinterest is already emerging as a popular platform in India now. It’s always good to start as early as you can.
Pins are forever
Pins last forever on Pinterest. Hence it is a good platform to work upon. It pays in the long run too.
All you need to do is make your Pins searchable and make them look great to reap out the maximum results.
Best way to see what works and what not for Pinterest is to search for Pins on any topic that interests you and see what kind of Pins appeals to you. Study the image, text overlay, layout, font, description and keywords. Then create high quality pins that would keep appealing to the viewers in the long run.
Use your original pins and re-pin others great content
On Pinterest, in addition to sharing your own original Pins, you can make use of others Pins and repin those on your boards. This would give you more exposure to attract visitors to your profile.
Now at one side there are all these benefits of using Pinterest but there is only one negative side according to me. And that is the time it takes to create regular pins to be shared on Pinterest. There is so much content on Pinterest that you have to create something that has visual appeal and high quality.
This takes quite a lot of effort and time. Here comes Tailwind to our rescue! Tailwind is a tool that makes creating and posting Pins on Pinterest a child’s play (that you would love to play)
Let’s start with how to use Tailwind in India for massive Pinterest growth.
Login into your Tailwind account using your Pinterest account.
Installing the Tailwind browser extension will make things a lot easier for you.
On the left hand side vertically, you can see the icons for – Weekly summary, Tribes, Publisher, Tailwind Create and Insights. Weekly summary shows your Pins, repins and followers. A Tailwind Tribe is a group of people or bloggers who share a common interest. Publisher is where most of the action happens.
Under ‘Publisher’ you have tabs- Drafts, Scheduled Pins, Smart Loop, Awaiting Approval, Published Pins, Your Schedule, Board List and Pins from Instagram (Beta). Drafts is where you create and schedule pins.
Finding your Tribe
It’s always great to have a Tribe! Another way to increase your reach is to create a tribe or join one. You can search for Tribes on Tailwind. They share each other’s pins. Tribes usually have their rules about sharing of your and others pins.
Search for tribes closest to your niche. More tribe members means more chances of repins. So join the tribes that are in your niche.
Staying consistent with Pins
Consistency is the key! If you pin one day and then skip for the next few days and then pin it some random day again, it is not going to give you good results. I know it can get somewhat overwhelming spending a lot of time and efforts on creating and posting pins on Pinterest.
Tailwind makes it a lot easier to create pins and schedule pins for you on Pinterest using TAILWIND CREATE. It’s like having an assistant who makes your work quick and easy. When you supply it with some basic inputs, you are given hundreds of results to choose from and edit according to your preference.
Check this post to know more about Tailwind Create and how to use it.

What that means is if you click on any of the links and make a purchase, I get a commission at no extra cost to you. If you do, I thank you for your purchase.
Shows you the best time for your Pins
Weekly Pinning Schedule shows the best times when Tailwind would automatically publish the pins added to the queue. It chooses the best possible moments to maximise the reach. It shows the optimized time slots in the schedule when your audience is most engaged. So you need not worry about choosing the best time as Tailwind takes care of that.
If you want to add custom time slots, you can do that too. One pin gets published in one time slot shown. If you want to publish two Pins at the same time, you just have to create a second time slot for the same time. There you go!
Resharing with Smartloop
Smartloop helps you keep resharing the Pins that have worked best for you. A loop is a collection of Pins that are automatically scheduled and looped for you at the best time.
There are evergreen loops that reschedule the Pins that work throughout the year. For me it could be- Travel tips, best songs to listen to while travelling etc.
Then there are seasonal loops that reschedule pins between a particular time period like festivals, holidays etc. With the help of this, you always have some great Pins being scheduled for you automatically.
You can also customize your Smartloop Schedule and choose how many times per day you want to pin from this loop. You can see in ‘Your Schedule’ how your schedule looks like.
Don’t Overdo It
Though it’s very convenient to schedule pins for weeks or months in advance on Tailwind, it doesn’t mean that you spam your followers or visitors with too many pins. Put quality over quantity. 20 to 30 pins everyday is the right amount of pins without going overboard. Design viral pins to drive traffic to your website or blog.
Making use of Board Lists
Boards Lists are very helpful and time saving. When you are scheduling a Pin, instead of manually entering the name of every board, you can just select the Board list and the Pin will be scheduled to all the boards in the list.
Here you find the analytics or details about how your account has been performing. Under ‘Board Insights’ you can also see how your Boards have been performing.
You can find which of your boards are getting more repins and then you can add more relevant pins to these. Finding your top performing Pins is also very easy here. Everything is put in front of you in such a manner that it is very easy to understand and work towards improvement.
If you are still on the fence about using Tailwind, Tailwind is an official Pinterest Partner. You need not worry about the safety of your account. You can try Tailwind for free and see how it works for you. Wait no further and get ready to see your massive Pinterest growth with little effort!
