I have been staying in Hsinchu in Taiwan for some time now.

I still remember the first time I heard the name of this place called Taiwan. At 11 or 12 years of age, I was gifted something that had this mark ‘Made in Taiwan’. The name stayed with me because it was new for me but nothing substantial was added to my knowledge about it during the years that followed.

Around 20 years later, I am living here in Taiwan, calling it ‘home’ (at least for the time being).

Most of the knowledge that I gathered about Taiwan before visiting it was sourced online, searching for Taiwan Travel Photographs and blogs. But now that I am staying here, I am loving exploring different places in Taiwan, its people, and their culture.

I’m hoping these stunning 25 travel photos will inspire wanderlust in you and inspire you to visit Taiwan.

When I set my foot here for the first time, it appeared to be a cloudy and gloomy day and I am a sunshine lover.

It stayed that way for a few consecutive days and all that I could see around me were skyscrapers, concrete buildings, wide roads, and flashy cars.

But this did not last long as I started moving out and exploring places around. Taiwan is much more than its first impression on me. There are parks you can go to and sit quietly reading or just relaxing.

There are places you can go for a hike to. On one hand, there are bountiful scenic areas, mountains, national parks, clean beaches, hot water springs and on the other side there are big malls, temples, architectural marvels.

Another thing I noticed is the abundance of recreational places or tourist attractions in Taiwan like amusement parks, museums, art centers, temples, zoos, historical places, and landmarks.

Initially, all that I knew about markets here was big marts, showrooms, and malls. I didn’t know about the Night Market culture in Taiwan. They really come alive at night with a lot of hustle-bustle.

Many traditional festivals and other events are celebrated through out the year. Every time I visit a place, I return home with a plan to visit it again because often during my stay, I discover a lot of new things that I would like to do there.

In addition to shops selling the usual stuff like clothes, bags, jewelry, phone accessories etc, there are stalls where you can play games, try local food and also watch live performances by the local artists.

You can also find various art pieces and handmade goods being sold at stalls.

I visited one that had a big collection of books and magazines. It was called ‘Cat’s Cafe’ as you could easily spot cats sleeping or roaming around outside.

People in Taiwan are quite polite and well-mannered. Queuing up for buses, trains and while ordering in a cafe, is a norm here. People rather stare at their phones than other people as it may seem offensive to many.

I have found the journey by buses and trains to be weirdly quiet, though in a pleasant way. People seldom speak loudly in person or even during a phone call.

I never felt unsafe while traveling in Taiwan except for one or two times when nothing bad actually happened but I just had a strange feeling and I left the scene.
